Posts and pages in wordpress may appear to be the same but they are very different. A page would be more suitable for static pages of the website. If you want your home page to be the same you need to tell your wordpress dashboard to pick a page that will be the static page. Go into settings then reading. The first choice on the page is whether your front page will display your latest post or to declare a static page. There is a drop down for you to pick your static home page.

The Difference Between a Post and a Page in WordPress

A post is content that you are constantly adding to. You may be writing a series of articles on a subject. WordPress will always display the most recent on top of the category ever pushing the older articles down. Your posts may be more likely to invite comments. Pages on the other hand are less likely to be suitable for comments. But remember there are no rules to making websites. My own opinion is that home pages with comments enabled on the home page look more like blogs. If you want to keep your site looking like a website I would remove the comment feature from the pages and only allow them on your posts.

How To Turn off the comments in WordPress?

Turning off the comments in wordpress is easy. Just go to the bottom of the page where you create your posts and pages. You will see a check box that says Discussion. Just uncheck the box that says allow comments on this post and it will remove the comment feature.
